The eye department is deployed in 50 beds, 25 of them are paid ophthalmological beds, equipped with modern diagnostic and medical ophthalmological equipment. The department has ophthalmic microscopes, an apparatus for photographing the fundus of the eye, a non-contact tonometer, an apparatus for ultrasonic eye research, an autorefractometer, an ophthalmometer, a multifunctional operating microscope with a video system, a surgical laser and other modern equipment.

More than 1.1 thousand patients are treated in the department every year, more than 800 different operations on the organ of vision are performed, such as cataract phacoemulsification with implantation of an artificial eye lens, hypotensive glaucoma operations, strabismus correction operations, sclerocysurgical operations, eyelid surgery , revascularization operations, operations on the lacrimal organs, laser operations and others.

In 2009, the Infiniti phacoemulsifier was purchased for ultrasonic crushing of the lens through a small incision and implantation of soft intraocular lenses.

The staff of the department - highly qualified ophthalmologists with certificates of the Republic of Kazakhstan, passed specialization in the leading clinics of Kazakhstan, Russia; highly qualified nurses. The department has 14 nurses and 15 junior medical staff.

The main pathologies of the organ of vision with which patients are hospitalized in the department:

• Eyelid disease

• Diseases of the lacrimal organs

• Inflammatory diseases of the eye

The department actively cooperates with the Kazakh Research Institute of Eye Diseases, with many internationally renowned foreign ophthalmological firms, and participates in many national and international conferences.

At the end of 2011, the eye department of the MRH was awarded the diploma “The Best Clinic” of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
